Leisure Review: Weekend Plans and Opinions
In this lesson, we bring together everything you need to talk about your free time, hobbies, and weekend plans at an A2 level. You will practise using modal verbs to express what you want, can, or must do, and share your personal opinions.
Modal Verbs
- Volere (to want): Voglio giocare a tennis. (I want to play tennis.)
- Potere (to be able to / can): Possiamo andare al cinema. (We can go to the cinema.)
- Dovere (to have to / must): Devo studiare sabato. (I have to study on Saturday.)
Expressing Opinions
To give your opinion on hobbies and activities, use phrases like penso che (I think that) or simple adjectives:
- Secondo me, è divertente. (In my opinion, it's fun.)
- Non mi piace molto. (I don't like it much.)
Common Mistakes
Remember that modal verbs are followed directly by an infinitive verb without any preposition: say voglio nuotare, not voglio a nuotare.
