Evening Activities & Reflexive Verbs
After a long day, we often do things for ourselves! In Italian, these are called verbi riflessivi (reflexive verbs). The action reflects back onto the subject, so we need reflexive pronouns like mi (myself), ti (yourself), and si (himself/herself/yourself).
How it works:
- Mi rilasso – I relax
- Ti riposi – You rest
- Si diverte – He/She has fun
Notice how the pronoun comes right before the conjugated verb. When using the infinitive (like rilassarsi), attach the pronoun to the end: voglio rilassarmi (I want to relax).
Common Mistake:
Don't forget the pronoun! Saying "Io rilasso" sounds like you are relaxing someone else, not yourself. Always use "Io mi rilasso".
