Describing Places: C'è vs Ci sono
When talking about what exists in a house or neighborhood, remember the rule:
C'è + singular noun (There is) — C'è un divano nuovo. (There is a new sofa.)
Ci sono + plural noun (There are) — Ci sono tre camere da letto. (There are three bedrooms.)
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Don't confuse l'affitto (rent) with la bolletta (utility bill). Also, remember that adjectives describing rooms must agree in gender and number (e.g., il bagno luminoso vs la cucina luminosa).
