Daily Schedule & Frequency
In this lesson, you will learn how to describe your routine and how often you do things using frequency adverbs and time expressions.
Frequency Adverbs
In Italian, frequency adverbs usually go right after the conjugated verb (or before it for emphasis).
- Sempre - Always (e.g., Io studio sempre.)
- Spesso - Often (e.g., Lui mangia spesso la pizza.)
- A volte - Sometimes (e.g., A volte lavoro a casa.)
- Raramente - Rarely (e.g., Noi usciamo raramente.)
- Mai - Never (usually requires non before the verb: Non fumo mai.)
Time Markers
Time markers help structure your daily schedule:
- La mattina - In the morning
- Il pomeriggio - In the afternoon
- La sera - In the evening
- Di solito - Usually
Common Mistakes
Remember that when using mai (never), you must put non before the verb: say Non mangio mai la carne (I never eat meat), not just Io mangio mai la carne.
