Hotel Stay in Italy
Welcome to your A2 lesson on checking into hotels and handling room issues in Italy! Knowing how to communicate your needs clearly makes travel stress-free.
Checking In
When you arrive, you will want to state your reservation. We use the polite form Vorrei... (I would like...) or polite questions.
- Ho una prenotazione. – I have a reservation.
- A nome di Rossi. – Under the name Rossi.
Reporting Issues
If something in your room doesn't work, you need to report it at reception. We use impersonal verbs or simple phrases like non funziona (it doesn't work).
- L'aria condizionata non funziona. – The air conditioning doesn't work.
- Non c'è l'acqua calda. – There is no hot water.
Common Mistakes
Remember that adjectives must agree with nouns! For example, la chiave is feminine, so we say la chiave è persa (the key is lost).
