1. Opening a Bank Account (Aprire un conto corrente)
To open a standard current account, you will need your passport and tax code (codice fiscale).
- Vorrei aprire un conto corrente. - I would like to open a current account.
- Quali documenti servono? - Which documents are needed?
2. Using the ATM (Il Bancomat)
Withdrawing cash is straightforward at most ATMs (often called sportello automatico or bancomat).
- Vorrei prelevare cento euro. - I would like to withdraw one hundred euros.
- Posso pagare con la carta? - Can I pay with the card?
3. Currency Exchange (Cambio Valuta)
If you need to exchange foreign money, look for a cambio or go to a bank.
- Dove posso cambiare i dollari? - Where can I change the dollars?
- Qual è il tasso di cambio? - What is the exchange rate?
Common Mistake: Do not confuse prelevare (to withdraw cash) with prestare (to lend).
