Expressing Opinions in Italian
In this lesson, you will learn how to share your thoughts about work and technology! When you want to give your opinion, two common phrases are your best friends:
- Secondo me: In my opinion
- Penso che: I think that
Let's see how they work in simple sentences.
1. Secondo me
Use secondo me directly before your opinion. It does not change form!
- Secondo me, questo computer è buono. (In my opinion, this computer is good.)
- Secondo me, il lavoro è facile. (In my opinion, the work is easy.)
2. Penso che
Use penso che when you want to say "I think that...". Notice how it introduces a thought about a person or thing.
- Penso che il computer sia lento. (I think that the computer is slow.)
- Penso che tu sia bravo. (I think that you are good.)
Common Mistakes
Don't confuse the two! Remember that secondo me means literally "according to me", while penso che means "I think that".
