Review: City & Directions

Review: City & Directions

Welcome to Unit 12! In this lesson, we will review how to navigate Italian cities, ask for directions, and talk about places and transport.

1. Places in the City

To talk about locations, use the preposition in (in/to) or a (at/to).

  • la stazione - the station
  • la banca - the bank
  • la farmacia - the pharmacy

Example: Vado alla stazione. (I am going to the station.)

2. Asking for Directions

When you are lost, use polite phrases to ask where something is:

  • Dov'è...? - Where is...?
  • Mi scusi - Excuse me (formal)

3. Common Mistakes

Remember that Italian nouns have grammatical gender. Always match the article: il banco (the desk) vs la banca (the bank).
