Unit 12: Review & Graduation - Home & Environment
Welcome to the final review of your first Italian unit! In this lesson, we will practice talking about where we live, the rooms in a house, the furniture inside them, and how to describe them using adjectives.
Key Vocabulary & Grammar
- Rooms & Home: la casa (house), la camera (bedroom), la cucina (kitchen).
- Furniture: il letto (bed), il tavolo (table).
- Descriptive Adjectives: Adjectives in Italian must match the gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural) of the noun they describe.
For example, grande (big) stays the same for masculine and feminine singular, but changes to grandi in the plural.
Common Mistakes
Remember that definite articles change based on the noun: il becomes lo before 's + consonant' or 'z', and la becomes l' before vowels. Also, watch out for adjective placement—most descriptive adjectives come after the noun!
| Italian | English |
|---|---|
| La casa è grande. | The house is big. |
| Il letto è comodo. | The bed is comfortable. |
