Unit 7 Review: Shopping & Clothing
In this review lesson, we bring together everything you've learned about shopping, clothes, and expressing what you want or can do!
Key Clothing & Shopping Vocabulary
Remember that Italian nouns have gender (masculine or feminine) and change in the plural:
- la camicia (shirt) -> le camicie
- i pantaloni (trousers - always plural in Italian)
- la taglia (size)
Using Modal Verbs
To ask for things politely while shopping, use vorrei (I would like) or modal verbs like volere (to want) and potere (to be able to / can):
- Vorrei una camicia blu. (I would like a blue shirt.)
- Posso pagare con carta? (Can I pay by card?)
Common Mistake
Don't forget that colors usually come after the noun in Italian and must match its gender and number! Say una camicia rossa (a red shirt), not 'rossa camicia'.
