Days of the Week in Italian
In this lesson, you will learn the seven days of the week in Italian. Unlike in English, days of the week are not capitalized in Italian unless they start a sentence.
The Days (I Giorni)
- lunedì - Monday
- martedì - Tuesday
- mercoledì - Wednesday
- giovedì - Thursday
- venerdì - Friday
- sabato - Saturday
- domenica - Sunday
Using Articles
To say 'on Monday' or 'every Monday', you often use the definite article (il for weekdays, la for Sunday):
- lunedì = Monday
- il lunedì = on Mondays / every Monday
- la domenica = on Sundays
Common mistake: Forgetting that sabato and lunedì have accent marks on the final vowel (ò, ì). Don't skip them!
